Don't Read This if You Already Hate Your Life So Much That it's a Borderline "Serious Issue"

How do you top an already awesome week?? With a wine tasting extravaganza and tapas bar, of course!

A great perk of not working is that you never really get that total end of the work week, brain numbed, complete and cranky exhaustion. Sure, you might get a little tired from laying on the couch all day or sore from sleeping weird during your nap, but there's no real opportunity to get in that all-consuming grouchy tired mood. As a result, you feel like you could rally at any time and be up for anything. Thirteen hours of sleep and no responsibilities will do that to a person.

During the school year, my normal Friday night consists of whining, half closed eye lids, and mayyybe dinner at a nearby place before passing out by 9:30. It honestly feels like torture to be awake on a Friday night when I start work at 7:30am and start work means listen to middle school drama, make a million on the spot decisions, grade essays, and deal with school politics. But now that it is summer, I find myself not only missing the little hooligans (though I would never admit this out loud), but also having a life, even on Friday nights. I am up for dancing, karaoke, a piano bar, really anything. After all, I have three months to make up any sleep that I miss.

On a slight and obnoxious tangent, do you know what was on my calender for Saturday? 1) Run 2) Take a nap 3) Potentially get a beer with Dylan's coworkers. THAT'S IT. Sunday? 1) Pilates. Monday? 1) LEGIT NOTHING hahahahahhaha

My life is so awesome that sometimes I'll be sitting outside at the park or walking along the coast and I'll stop for a second like I'm in a dream and think, "This is no dream. You are awake and this is your LIFE." Then, I kind of look around to see if anyone notices how great my life is. Usually there's someone in a business suit rushing back to the office and s/he will look at me with a wistful glance as a tear slowly rolls down their cheek. Then, I go back to my book/walk/daydream and laugh like a haughty demon, counting down the minutes til my next nap.

Here's the point, if I even have one: Last night, a Friday, I had plenty of energy. I had stayed in my pajamas until 1:45. YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT. I took a leisurely shower, ate some mac n' cheese, watched THE trashiest show I could find (Oprah interviewing the Kardashians. Pure gold), and then headed over to meet Cat and Adrian for our wine tasting and tapas bar extravaganza!

What a night! It's too bad the pictures didn't turn out too well because I'll be honest right now, we looked fantastic. Also, now that Dylan is officially on summer break, I have a partner in crime for my summer adventures, and Cat will be on summer break in one week!!! It is so nice to be in a summers off club. If you had asked me when I was young what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said a waitress who lived in a corn field and had the summers off. While 2 out of 3 didn't work out, thank god the last goal did.
